Community Outreach Events
The Town of Queen Creek offers a variety of outreach events offering residents opportunities to talk to Town representatives and learn about community issues and services. Residents are invited to "wake up to what's cooking in Town" at the Pancake Breakfast in November and "get the scoop" at the Ice Cream Social in June. Additionally, the Town hosts a Fire and Medical Open House, Great Neighbor Awards and Star Student Awards. Residents are encouraged to take the opportunity to have their opinions heard and learn about projects affecting Queen Creek.
Citizen Leadership Institute
Queen Creek residents invited to register for the Town’s annual Citizen Leadership Institute. The purpose of the institute is fourfold: (1) to present information about important questions facing the Town; (2) to provide an avenue for residents to help plan the community’s future; (3) to spark an interest in local issues; and (4) to develop a pool of informed residents who would be willing to serve as local leaders on boards, commissions and among their neighbors.
Class sessions feature guest speakers, group discussions and activities related to the topics. Participants also are expected to attend one Town Council meeting, one Committee or Commission meeting, participate in a class project and volunteer at a community event. Those who successfully complete the seminar series are recognized by the Town Council at a graduation ceremony, and their names are added to Queen Creek’s list for future committee appointments.
The Town of Queen Creek has a number of commissions, committees, boards and task forces that, in most cases, act in an advisory capacity to the Town Council. After studying a case or issue, they make recommendations for action to the Town Council and the Town Council makes the final determination. To be considered for appointment, please submit a Notice of Interest form.
